A classic multi-purpose carabiner. Unlike climbing carabiners, these do not have a certified load capacity. Therefore, use your head before attaching anyone to them.
If someone hangs a man weighing 100 kg from a single 40 mm carabiner and he subsequently suffers an injury, let them take their complaint elsewhere. We’re not in America, so I’m not responsible for the consequences of the misuse of any of my products, and as you could have read when registering with this shop, Bugshop is intended for adult and mature customers.
Dimensions:
- 40 mm – compatible with both types of chain we sell (TYPE 1 and TYPE 2). Load capacity according to the manufacturer’s technical data sheet: 70 kg
- 60 mm – compatible with the larger chains we sell (TYPE 1). This is the most commonly used carabiner. Load capacity according to the manufacturer’s technical data sheet: 120 kg
- 80 mm – compatible with the larger chains we sell (TYPE 1). With some links, compatibility is not 100 per cent and it may be a little stiff to pull through. Load capacity according to the manufacturer’s technical data sheet: 250 kg
- 180 mm – The largest carabiner we offer is not (as standard) intended for securing loads. It is not directly compatible with any of the chains we supply; to attach it to a chain (TYPE 1), you will need to use, for example, an 80 mm carabiner. The reason we offer it at Bugshop is that it can be used as a small suspension point for shibari – in other words, as a cheap and compact alternative to a shibari ring. However, it is not merely an alternative; it is also a useful accessory if, for example, you wish to use multiple suspension points at the same time, as I myself like to do. You’ll need very little additional mounting hardware for installation, as it is essentially just a carabiner in its own right.
